About Us

One Symphony Place sits at the edge of downtown Nashville, and the moment you step through its limestone doors, the city's noise disappears. The Schermerhorn Symphony Center opened in 2006 and was rebuilt after the 2010 flood with even more care than before, a fact regulars will mention unprompted. The hall's acoustic design draws comparisons to the great European concert houses, and nearly 3,700 reviewers have given it a 4.9-star rating, which is almost unheard of for a venue this size.

The room itself rewards exploration. Sit behind the orchestra at least once. The sightlines from those seats reveal how the musicians interact with each other and with the conductor in ways the front of the house simply can't show you. Natural light pours through the clerestory windows during daytime rehearsals and afternoon concerts, making the Laura Turner Concert Hall feel alive in a way that most indoor venues never manage.

The Nashville Symphony has called this building home since opening night, and the staff have built the kind of institutional memory that turns first-time visitors into regulars. Patrons who attend frequently find that box office and front-of-house teams begin to recognize them by name, a small detail that says everything about how this organization treats the people who show up.

What We Offer

The Schermerhorn presents a full season of Nashville Symphony classical and pops concerts, film-with-orchestra events, and holiday programming. The How to Train Your Dragon screening with live symphony accompaniment is just one example of the cinematic concert series that brings film scores to life in a way a home theater never could. Educational concerts for school groups run throughout the academic year, and the symphony's community engagement calendar extends well beyond the main stage.

Beyond performances, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center is one of Nashville's most sought-after event venues. The Founders Room and surrounding spaces host corporate galas, fundraisers, and weddings with full catering coordination and the building's landmark architecture as a backdrop. Daytime box office hours run Monday through Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, making ticket purchases and event inquiries easy to handle in person any day of the week.

Season subscriptions offer the best seat selection and significant savings over single-ticket prices, and the symphony's gift shop carries recordings, scores, and curated merchandise for anyone who wants to bring a piece of the experience home.

"Beautifully maintained, excellent acoustics. Not a bad view wherever one sits, even behind the orchestra is interesting. I'd recommend sitting in that section at least once. Pics are views from one of the outside balconies."

"Such a great experience. Saw the How to train your dragon with the live symphony. It was amazing. I did not purchase the best tickets. The seats I chose did not have a great view of the screen. I was not aware the speakers would be in the way. I went to the box office 10 min before the start time. I was helped by Luke he was amazing. He was able to give me seats behind the screen right down by the orchestra row A. We had 3 tickets before but he converted us to a family 4 pack with a extra ticket and we even got a 27.00 credit. The staff were so amazing and helpful through the whole process."

"We’ve been patrons of the Symphony for a couple years now and it never disappoints! We like to see the movie showings for a visceral experience of your favorite films but the classical music shows are just as moving. Highly recommend for an elegant date night or something special to do with family!"
